X-Men – If it weren’t for mutants, where would we all be?

In science fantasy we see mutants saving mankind – often from other mutants. But really, we owe our very existence to mutants. Think about it – mutation is necessary for all evolution. Even if you don’t agree that natural selection is the driver of evolution, gene mutation is how we get the diversity within species and between species. That means if there were no mutations, we would hardly have begun.

Would life as we know it have even begun at all? At the very most, we would be something like a virus or bacteria. Probably not even that.
